Yesterday my friends and i headed up to Lake Louise Ski Resort and it was amazing! The views were unbelievable with plenty of snow around.
The next day we headed to the hill kind of early to head to pipe practice. When we got to the pipe it was a sheet of ice, the light was flat and they did a horrible job of dieing the pipe. During practice I was just trying to get a feel for the pipe and it was hard. After a few hours of riding it I got the hang of it, so I called it quits for the day. That night we headed out to Sushi because with our Dew Tour passes we got 50% off the whole bill which was nice. Once we got back to our condo we hung out for a while and watched Jersey Shore because its JJ’s favorite show and he tries to not miss an episode.
The day of the contest we got to sleep in because we didn’t compete until 6 pm which was nice! So once every one in the condo woke up we made some breakfast and just hung out and got our boards all dialed in for the night. Around 3 we headed to the hill to get some practice in before the contest. When we got to the hill it was just dumping snow and super windy, which made the conditions hard to ride in. Once it came time to compete there was a fresh foot of snow in the pipe so a lot of people were having trouble getting out. In my first run I dropped in and did back 9, front 9, back 5 and fell due to the high winds and snow. After I fell on my run I was super pissed because I fell on a somewhat easy trick. On my second run I dropped in and did back to back 9’s to back 5 to front 7 which was only a foot out because I was loosing so much speed due to the fresh snow. That run didn’t give me the best placing and I just missed out on finals, which I was super bummed about.
After the contest we went back to sushi because it was so cheap which was nice then went to bed. On Saturday we woke up early because JJ and Steve both made finals. That morning was a pretty fun time because Brett Esser, Scotty Pike, Broc Warning and I went free riding with a foot of fresh pow! After riding pow all morning we headed to the pipe to watch the finals go down. We met up with the rest of our friends and sat in the back of the Toyota truck cheering on our friends. Louie Vito ended up in first, JJ Thomas in second and Mason Aguirre in third. After the contest I headed back to the condo to pack up my stuff so we could head back to Albany to catch a 6am flight the next day.
