Mammoth Grand Prix

So this week I was in Mammoth for the Grand Prix. It was definitely a good time! The week started out with a nice sunny day of pipe riding. During the first day of practice I worked on getting use to the pipe by doing strait airs and some 5’s. By the afternoon I was working on some new combos in the pipe. After practice I met up with my friend Trevor Jacob a Mammoth local to go eat dinner. He picked me up from the place where I was staying and in his car was a PA system so we drove around mammoth playing with it. The next day a storm came in and the weather changed real fast. It went from sunny and sick to super windy and snow. Ski patrol reported 60mph winds at the top, so we chilled out at our place and had a movie day. The Next day we woke up and there was about of foot and a half of fresh snow on the ground so we decided to go ride pow which was great. They day of the contest was up and the weather was terrible again, it was super windy and snow like the day before.

They postponed the contest for two day because of this. During the contest day it was sunny and sick and everyone was excited to ride. On my first run of the contest I dropped in doing a big backside 9 to a front 7 to a cab 10. On my cab 10 I popped a little to hard and landed really flat and lost all my speed. After that I was pretty upset and took a few free ride runs to calm me down. My next run I dropped in did a big backside 9 to a front 7 to a cab 7 instead to a front 9 which I lost my edge and slide out. After that I was super pissed because if I landed that run I would have been in finals. I got 17th place and the kid who got 16th place beat me by .2. and for the rest of the day I was bumming.

After the contest was over we had to run back to the hotel to pack up because we had to catch a flight to Vermont for the US Open.

That's the Third Story of the Mammoth Lodge.... They have soooo much snow!!

About to go ride some mammoth pow!
